Default fall foliage in Gatlinburg

I know many areas of the south are expecting a dull fall this year due to the lack of rainfall. Is this the case in Tennessee? We will be arriving in Gatlinburg October 16th and are looking forward to seeing some beautiful fall foliage. What are temperatures like at this time of year?

I was visiting East Tennessee for a week at that time last year. The temps during the day were mostly in the 70s (one day it was above 80) and at night it was in the 40s and low 50s. On the morning I left, there was frost on my windshield. Since you will be closer to the mountains, I'll assume it will be cooler.

If you go to weather.com, enter Gatlinburg and click on the "month" tab to get an idea of the highs and lows at that time of the year.

We were at Brasstown Bald yesterday at 4,800 ft. here in N. Georgia, just 2 hrs. from Gatlinburg. Some of the sugar maples were already showing some color. It should be gorgeous in 2 or 3 weeks higher up in the mts. when you get to visit Gatlinburg. Have fun.
