Default Clarksville or Columbia?

Hello,

My family is having the opportunity to move to Clarksville or Columbia, which in your opinion is better? Schooling is high priority. Thank you in advance.

I'm originally from Clarksville (and still have property there). I don't have any opinion about which is better for you. I will mentioned that there is often a difference of opinions about Clarksville at least partially because of the presence of a huge military base in the northwestern part of the county (the base is partially in Tennessee and partially in Kentucky); therefore it's like two different places there. Those who know it mostly by having some connection to the army base always think of it as an army town (although the base wasn't even there until WWII). Others think of it as a college town because Austin Peay State University is there. Many of us whose families have lived there for generations don't think of it as either of those.

Good luck with whichever place you decide.

My husband and I bought a house in the Clarksville area last year so we would have a place to live when we leave Europe. I don't suggest Clarksville, I am selling my house and leaving the area. I have never lived in an area like this, there is no honor, a man's word here is just that a word. You can't get anything done. It took us over 3 months to get our phone service hooked up, we bought a new house in a subdivision in Adams TN. The neighbors won't talk to each other, the builder sure doesn't honor his warranty, our realtor was well lets just say I don't know how he makes a living, on the other hand, the cost of living is cheap, the area is pretty but be careful about the school districts.
I am not trying to belittle TN as I love the area, but for a new subdivision I can honestly say I have never seen a place like this.
