Waynesboro questions
I may be relocating to Waynesboro for a job, not sure yet. I've been offered the job, but havent accepted the offer, and wether I do or not is still up in the air..
1.) Who provides cable tv, internet and phone service in Waynesboro? I've looked at Adelphia, Charter and Bellsouth with no luck.
2.) What kind of stores are ther ein town.. grocery stores? convieince stores? Clothes shopping?
3.) What's the weather like?
I've never been to Waynesboro and don't know a heckuva lot about it except it's not the entirely best economically.
What do I need to know about Waynesboro? How are the people? What are their attitudes?
Fill me in on everything folks
Thanks in advance..

Congratulations on your job offer!
1) Most of the cable tv seems to be provided by Charter Communications or DirecTV. Phone service is TDS Telecom. Internet service providers are primarily TDS and NetEase.
2) Grocery stores are Piggly Wiggly, E.W. James, and Save-A-Lot. There are some convenience stores scattered around, as well as some Dollar Stores. For clothes shopping, you will probably want to order online or go to WalMart or other stores in either Savannah or Lawrenceburg (each about 30-35 miles away). The closest "big city" for the area is Florence, AL.
3) Summers are hot and humid, like the rest of this area. From one native New Englander to another, you will find the summers uncomfortable and the mild winters scarcely worth being called "winter". I stay in air-conditioned spaces all summer. On the other hand, that is more preferable to most people than shoveling snow and scraping ice in northern winters!
The area is stirring and beginning to change in positive ways. The people are down to earth and friendly. You will find it very easy to make new friends, especially if you work where I think you will.
Wayne County is very rural, and logging and farming are common activities. The forested, hilly terrain is similar to parts of CT. If you are young and single, you should consider how you like to spend your time when you are not working.

I forgot to mention, I'm actually from Connecticut... resided in the Central & Eastern part of the state...
What banks are in Waynesboro and which one is the best to deal with? I just need a simple no frills, no fees checking account with a debit card.
Wheres the best place to look for an apartment? It's looking like I'm going to need to find one. And what would a 2 bedroom apartment cost you in Waynesboro?
Where are any laundromats in Waynesboro?
By the way, the place I'd be working for is only a few doors down from the police station

I read that in some of your previous posts. You like to see the country!

Bank of Waynesboro and Wayne County Bank are both good, and you can easily walk to them from your place of work. Peoples Bank is a little farther, and seems less popular among folks I know -- not that that means anything.

There is one in the same plaza with E.W. James supermarket -- also walkable on your lunch break. There may be another one, which I will inquire about and get back to you.
