The Washington Post story is a Franklin, Tennessee woman's story who was in Cades Cove when the storm blew through last week but since most all of us in this forum have been through Cades Cove, wait until you see these handful of photos from inside. There's one especially bad of the trees (plural) down across the road.

Smoky Mountain park visitor recalls violent storm: ‘It was beautiful, and then it wasn’t’ - The Washington Post

There is also a night video but it's not as good as the stills.

Tonight on the News... another problem may be looming. All the tress that toppled and took more tress and so on.May have opened up large areas of loose rock..and with the rains coming this may cause massive erosion and land slides on the River Road.. It may take 45 days or more for clean up.
