I, too love Publix and its prices. In the Central Florida area (at least on items I have compared to both Winn Dixie and Albertsons) Publix is cheaper. I actually got an email message from a PBX rep in Lakeland telling me there are no plans to enter the Knoxville soon. She didn't say 'not' just not soon. I might have to postpone my move!!!!! Until PBX makes the bold move.

trust me, "they" ("the strategic planners") know, what needs to be done, and when to move into a new area. They study the trends, neighborhoods, infrastructure....etc.etc. and I am sure, they devote a great deal of time on it, to make an absolute "no fail" decision. I am sure, when the time is right, that they will investigate and examine Knoxville..... Being an University town and all, seems like a "no brainer", doesn't it? lol

I used to haul for publix a few years ago. They had just opened 5 stores in and around Nashville at the time (they bought some abandoned Albertsons stores). I don't know if they've branched out any more since then. I stay in touch with several friends who still haul for them and no one has mentioned it.

There are now 14 Publix stores in Nashville and its suburbs, and more are under construction. Others here say that Publix is headed to Chattanooga next year. I sure do wish they'd come to Knoxville!

Yes, we have a Publix Market within 3 miles of home. They are a Lakeland FL mariket chain, slightly upscale, great instore bakery, deli. They are higher priced than Kroger but carry national brands, better choices than Kroger. They are aggressive marketers and want the high end niche of the market, better at customer service than Kroger...remind me a lot of the old HG Hill chain but with international brands, adequate meats, good selection of groceries and 1000% better than any Wally World you might find......we personally dislike Walmart specifically for killing small town Tennessee businesses, destroying mainstreet USA and pushing their damn china brands on us.

Publix is a FANTASTIC supermarket! I drive quite a distance in Florida to shop there, but they are going to build one near me soon. I find Ingle's to be similar, but a notch under in quality. Publix offers great deli, bakery and organic choices, even in their smaller stores. And fantastic customer service! Also, one thing I admire about them at least where I shop is that they go out of their way to hire women, seniors and the emotionally challenged.
I have known a few people who have worked for Publix and they had nothing but good things to say about them.

Publix came to TN around the end of 2001, and mostly began to expand in 2002. I grew up in FL and always going to Publix. It is a great store. Not as cheap as Kroger, but the fruit and meat are extremely fresh and their subs and other deli foods are so good. I actually live right around the corner now from where one of the new Publix stores will be in Murfreesboro, and I am so excited. Trust me, you will definately enjoy Publix!
