I think you meant Chattanooga.

I honestly don't know why Publix is taking its own sweet time coming to East Tennessee. But I can assure you, when they do come to town, Food City and the other mediocre grocery stores had better watch out. I don't think anything can stop Wal-Mart, but Publix will wipe out the others. It happened in Atlanta, and now it's happening in Nashville. And it is not a bad thing. I love Publix!

I'm going to politely disagree with you there. Kroger's is still the big boy on the block here in Nashville; I doubt Publix has made much of a different to their market share so far.

By the way, I do shop at Publix.

I'm sorry for not explaining myself. In Atlanta, Publix didn't push Kroger out, they pushed the mediocre chains out. I meant the same thing about Nashville. I don't consider Kroger to be mediocre.

Default already living in TN (in my mind....)

Hi all,
now living on Florida Gulf Coast but planning a move to Shelbyville/Wartrace area -- how about public libraries around that area? farmers' markets? good vets? good doctors and dentists? And thrift stores (my entertainment and a controllable retail therapy)? Is Wartrace a good town for walking around for exercise and pleasure? How's the traffic on Knob Creek Road in Wartrace? Anyone have any ideas how I can trace the history of some of the older houses, along with their owners, values, etc? I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but any answers appreciated!
thanks a lot,
Nims

Thankk You, hgsgold
If you are in Johnson City, Ingle's and Koger are the best. Clean, modern stores and great selection. Avoid Wal-mart at any cost!.

I live in Hendersonville and I drive past Kroger to go to Publix. The best grocery store deli I have ever been to!!!!! Fresh produce (Kroger here is just nasty with produce) and meat and incredibly clean. I won't shop any where else anymore. My husband will go to Kroger for cigarettes and a few cheaper items but goes to Publix for all fresh foods. I had never heard of Publix before moving here (Ca. transplant) but it is by far my favorite grocery store now.

There are only 20 Publix stores in Tennessee so far. All of them are in Middle Tennessee, I believe (Nashville and surrounding counties).

Sorry.
