Amen to that! I think it's just a matter of time. Several months ago in the Florida forum a woman who said she works at the Publix HQ in Lakeland posted that Publix was going to open stores in Cookeville and Crossville. Keep your fingers crossed!

We like Publix here in FL but the closest is about 15 miles away. Publix has very clean stores, doesn't seem to overcrowd the aisles like other markets and are usually very helpful. Its also nice that we don't need a store "shopping card" to get the advertised specials, like we did at Krogers in OH. Are there any Albertson's in TN? There is one in Ocala, FL that we like for their fresh seafood and other specials. We got one of those shoppers cards for the Food City in Crossville while we were there in July, and I see that they are building a new Food City in Fairfield Glade.

I'm not sure whether there's any Albertson's left in Tennessee or not, but Publix bought the ones in the Nashville area and turned them into Publix stores.

Yes, after you have been a Publix shopper very hard to settle for other grocery chains.. The bakery bread is out of this word and their pastry.. The customer service is the ultimate...Very clean and well stocked with many choices....
Thanks A Million !!

And don't forget all of the organic foods Publix carries. They are the best!

alleycat, thanks for the info about Albertson's. Don't want to go too far OT, but LOML liked to shop at Aldi's in OH, and there are none in FL. I think we saw an Aldi on 231 at Lebanon. According to Aldi's store locator there is one in Hixson, which is closer in miles to Crossville than the Lebanon store, but probably not in travel time. Has anyone heard of any planned for Cookevile/Crossville?

Publix converted the Albertson's on Murfreesboro RD several years ago. We were very pleased with shopping there at Publix. However, after they built the new Kroger close by, Publix couldn't compete for some reason and closed the store. The building is still empty. We have to go to Nipper's Corner now to shop at Publix.

Yes, Aldi purchased the old Oldsmobile dealership on South Jefferson in Cookeville. The old building has been torn down, but they haven't started constructing the new Aldi store yet.

Well hopefully they will have a Publix built in Maryville by the time we get there in 2009.
