Wow! You would not believe the Grand Opening they are having at Publix in E. Brainerd! Raffles and giveaways all over the store, samples galore, it was beyond packed and as one employee joked with me, probably breaking the fire code! Anyhow, there were a ton of employees and they were extremely helpful. The store was bigger than any of the ones I have ever seen in FL and had a great floor plan. The coolest is we live on the other side of town from the new store and the one opening by us in Hixson next year is going to be much larger. I bet they are going to have some of the other goodies like Crispers there.
Just thought I would share. I brought home some of their yummy chicken tenders for DH and he was very happy!

Glad to hear you had a good time at the opening bb. I work for Publix and it makes me feel good when we impress people at one of our openings. It's a ton of work to pull one off, trust me!

It would probably be better if you started a new thread in the Nashville forum with your questions.
What is your price range? That will make a big difference in what areas we can suggest.

Publix is a nice store, they are very clean. They do tend to be a little more expensive though.
Watch out for Ingles, I have bought more expired food there than I can even remember.

What does Publix have that Kroger or Food City does not, other than a nicer deli area and higher prices? I used to shop there when living in Orlando and Atlanta and found it to be extremely expensive in comparison w/ the competition.

I have found that Publix store brand is of higher quality than other stores, their meat is better, their organic selection at the bigger stores is awesome, they are the only store around here that carries Boar's Head, which I love, and they have a much greater variety and selection of products. I canot tell you how many times here in Chattanooga that I have had to go to Walmart, Bi-Lo, and Fresh Market to do all of my shopping, because I could not get everything at one store. Publix has the products I use most and brands I like. I like cooking and I like a well-stocked pantry and spice cupboard and I would prefer not having to waste gas driving to 3 different places.
All of that said, there is a newer Bi-Lo near us that has a better selection in both quality and variety and they will be opening a Super Bi-Lo to compete with Publix, so I will keep an open mind.
