Default Clifton TN???? Small farm opportunties?

We are from Long island NY & it is our dream to live a more self sufficient life. My husband also would like a warmer climate, we are considering TN & found a few "farms" for sale near Clifton. Any & all knowledge on this area would be great. We do not have school aged children, but we are also concerned about crime.
Are there others specific areas of TN I can search for land that would be better?

Check out the Tri-Cities areas. I know that in Suplfer Springs, Chucky, Afton, North Gray, Colonial Heights and places like that all are priced very nicely for farm land plus there are really good schools. You can have 5 or so acres, not hear a road, nice people but yet have only a 10 minute or less drive to the Interstate fro an easy commute.
Just my lil ol' opinion, hope it helps.

Clifton is a growing area but still very small. It is a quaint little town on the TN River with nice homes and a Bear Trace Golf Course. Crime is not absent but not as big a problem as other places. Savannah, TN is another option you might want to consider.
