Liberal in TN?
I am considering a move to Tellico Village and know that in general TN is very conservative in their political/religious views. I know that there are a variety of retirees moving to this area and a lot are from MI, OH, NY, CA, and FL. Can a liberal find happiness in this area without being slammed for having their view on things? Will I be asked all the time what church I attend?

I'm thinking of moving to Tennessee to get away from liberals. The excessive costs and taxes with a liberal run area is too much for me. Hopefully, Tennessee doesn't change.

Bridgett, because Tellico Village attracts so many people from so many areas, my guess (and it's only a guess) is that you wouldn't have a problem there. Many people from my neck of the woods in South Florida, which is heavily liberal/Democratic, have bought homes/land there.

A lot of the media, especially around Nashville, is liberal and may lead you to believe the people are. Though I'd say there are a lot of people who are socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

Areas like East TN and many others in TN purport to be heavily "Republican", but they really don't know what that really really means ! I am a strong Republican, but that doens't make me more holy than other politicos !....
What you will find in TN, especially east TN (well even in the Memphis area as well), are not true Republicans.......many are just "DIXIECRATS" who were former Democrats, but migrated 'over' to the Republican party.....I have many friends in the South who call themselves Republicans, but their true blelief system is more akin to unrecontructed Dixiecrats, sorry to say.
