COOKEVILLE -- Five dogs are in the possession of the Cookeville-Putnam County Animal Shelter this week as a result of what the animal shelter director says is the failure of pet owners to plan for their pets in the case that something happens to them.
CPCAS Director Laurie Green told the Herald-Citizen on Monday that she received a call Saturday night from someone in Florida who told Green that a friend of his who had just moved to Cookeville was in intensive care at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and that her dogs had been at home alone and presumably without food or water for four days.
