Enjoy your snow up there. It's gotten a little cooler here . . . it's only suppose to be in the high 60's and low 70's this week. ;-)

I'm with you Alleycat, that is one reason we are moving to TN. I like snow on Christmas morning, but it can be all gone by 3 p.m.

I moved here from Michigan 17 years ago. I ain't never goin back. Idk about some of the old folks around here. I'm waiting for Wednesdays paper. Miss Sadie Flatt will give us the scoop. I have actually found her forecasts quite true and more accurite than the news and Radars.
The signs I have seen myself. I don't know what it means tho. Our horses are going through feed and hay like mad. A round roll on average lasts the girls 3 weeks. It is only lasting 1.5 weeks now. The grain they are begging for everyday in the morning and at night. Their winter coats have gotten thicker than they have in years past already.
The chickens are eating like theres no tomorrow. I have doubled the feed bill in the last month and still they are cramming it in. After molt their feathers are SUPER thick. Thicker than anytime in the past years.
It seems to me it's gonna be bad. But then I need to consult with Miss Sadie.

Well, that's it then. If the horses and chickens are eating like that, it's good enough for me. I'm getting out my Eddie Bauer catalog and ordering a heavier coat.

we hope we don't bring the Minnesota winters with us when we move this fall. Trying to get away from these kind of winters. Snow is fine, but no below zero hopefully, fingers crossed and all.

The animals know something
Very strange.. My three cats are also eating up a storm here in South
Florida. Much more than normal. If I start doing that, I am finding a cave.

Oh NO! Thats what happened last year.
That Stallion has STALLION PANEL STEEL fence and hot wires to keep him from even touching it. The ladies are safe.
But I do have a broody hen. Little witch won't give up! I'll have to try to help chicks out with heat. The cold weather is setting in. I can't convince her it ain't spring.

Glad the girls don't have to worry about that stallion.
Sounds like you have things pretty well covered there, starwalker. That broody hen sounds like a loving momma. Never too many of them.
