Hello I am having problems finding info on Sevierville Tennessee. My husband and I are wanting to move from Florida to Tennessee but we know nothing about the area. We are going to visit in a few months but I just want to know what the cost of living is like? If there is any places to work? What the prices of houses are. Any info would be great. Thanks...If there is another area better then please let me know.

Sevierville is a tourist town(Dollywood etc.). It is very expensive and overpriced. The county has a very high sales tax. I've met people from there and they don't do any shopping in their own county. The traffic especially in the summer is horrendus.
It's ok to visit but I would never live there. When you visit make sure you check out the surrounding areas. Sevierville is not, in my opinion, what Tennessee is about. Have a good trip. |

I agree it is a tourist town....but I love living here. If you learn the backroads you will be able to avoid alot of the traffic. I do my grocery shopping in Sevierville. Jobs are mostly tourist types gift shops, motels etc. I don't work there I do drive every day to downtown Knoxville to work, but I have a great job there. Also depends on where you live too, I rent a 2 bedroom apartment and only pay 495.00, very big and roomy. Homes are over-priced, due to the demand of people moving in and prices going up. I have found the prices are high anywhere around the Mountains. My mom and sister live in Blount county and homes are high there too. You can always find some good buys though once and awhile. Pigeon Forge use to be very nice but too tourist now, I remember when it was 2 gift shops just a handful of restaurants, and a drive-in that was the happening place on saturday night. I am new to the forum too and have been reading all the reply's and think there is such good advice from everyone...WELCOME TO TENNESSEE

It is a pretty place.
![]() But I would think about middle Tennessee. White County, Putnam, or Jackson Counties. You'll get more bang for your buck. Lower taxes too. More land or house size depending on what you are looking for. I'd say price wise lowest to highest would be Jackson, White then Putnam. All of them have the big city amenities without the tremendous traffic.![]() |
