maryville is an awesome town! I lived there from 1993-2000. maryville is right at the base of the smokey mountains so the view of the mountain range is just beautiful! The fall colors turns the mountain side all kinds of reds, oranges, and yellows. The air comes from the north, so it is a crisp cool air. The summers are relatively mild and the winters are cold with some days of snow.

The schools in Maryville are great and they strive for excellence in Maryville. The town also respects it's past and works hard to remember those times. They revamped the downtown area to resemble how it would have looked back then. The lamp posts, street signs and store fronts are all reminiscent of days gone by.

Maryville prides its self for being right smack in the middle of the bible belt, and there is an old church standing on every other street corner on Lamar Rd.

The people are nice, the atmosphere and climate is awesome, and the schools are great. No onder it was ranked in the Top 10 best places to live!

I hope this helps!

I wanted to add a disclaimer that I am NOT a realator. I saw in some other posts that some where getting on here to "sell". My posts are truthful and from the heart. No selling here.

Default A Question for cjstrag about Maryville....

Maryville sounds great! Is there any private christian schools in Maryville? And if so what are the names of the schools? Thanks for any info.

I'm not a realtor either - I just moved to Blount county a few months ago from out of state and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Maryville and the surrounding little towns. The people are friendly, what they are doing to restore downtown Maryville, the friendly people, the great (couple) of restaurants, the mountains, did I say the friendly people? There is a college here so I'm going to check out continuing ed classes (already signed up for one at UT in Knoxville, but I'm sure Maryville college has them also.) In addition, there is at least one christian school that I'm aware of - Maryville christian.

Also, there seems to be a lot of job openings everywhere as Maryville area is growing. Alcoa (just north of Maryville) has some industry, there is an airport, and all the car dealerships are on Alcoa Highway and plenty of retail (Walmart, Staples, etc)

I love Maryville and have friends who live there. I tell people my body may be in Ca but my heart is in Maryville. I am just not having luck with finding work for my husband and the retirement was not that great for us. Good luck and I hope you love it as much as me.

Hi - Douglas Lake is about 30 minutes away (from a drive we took once - I may be a little off there) but Alcoa is the next town up. They literally blend into one another. The Alcoa Plant is just outside of Maryville.

This town sounds great. My husband and I have thinking of moving to N.C. but now we're looking into eastern Tenn because of the taxes. Any thoughts on that? We live in Houston and we HATE it, it's too HOT and FLAT. What is the population there? How close is it to Maggie Valley N.C.? and how close to the Blueridge Parkway? Thank you. Also does it get much snow?
