I tried to add to your reputation but have to "spread it around" before I can give you more points.
At any rate, I agree with you completely! I love living in my neighborhood with homes in almost all price ranges and people from all socio-economic backgrounds. Variety is the spice of life!
But back to the original post, there are plenty of McMansion developments in West Knox where there's not a mobile home for miles. Check out Farragut and Concord, particularly Concord since it's on the shores of Lake Loudon.

I think its just how the media/Hollywood portrays them. You hear mobile home you think deliverance, 40 years old run down, 10 cars scattered around none work.
I know one mobile home park that rivals any single family home development. Guard post, lawns well kept, etc.

And sometimes people live in mobile homes, and they ARE run down, and they are still really nice people.
Like me!

According to the government (my guess the 2000 census since it is 2000 data) these are the 10 wealthiest places in Tennessee (per capita income) to start you on your research.
Belle Meade
Forest Hills
Lookout Mountain
Oak Hill
Brentwood
Germantown
La Grange
Walden
Signal Mountain
Farragut

Lookout Mtn = old money
Signal Mtn = New money
FTIW: There are trailers on both mtns. There are also multi million dollar homes on both as well as very affordable neighborhoods on both. Great public schools on both too.

I dont live in a trailer. I live in a single wide manufactured home. We hauled our horses in trailers.

Yes! We can have a party and display our good manners, which money cannot buy.
