Default How about Fairfield Glade in November?

We'll be up for a few days this month - 14th thru 17th. Anything special we should do or see?

Thanks!

Report back, please.

We've only been there in the summer. I guess we'll get there for other climes since we own a retirement lot in FFG. Though being from Iowa we're not too worried about winter.

We certainly will. My husband plans on playing lots of golf....ummmmm, I keep telling him it's going to be too cold. Being from Florida, 60 is cold. We want to tour around Cookeville/Crossville more, as we ran out of time in August.

We lived in Michigan for 16 years and my husband gloats over the fact that he didn't miss a week of golf in 22 straight months with 3 other looney guys.

They used orange golf balls so they could find them in the snow! You can certainly see the hole in the 8 or 9 inches of snow where the ball struck. The problem is that sometimes, when they were reallllly lucky, the ball hit with such force that it would travel under the top crust of snow. Then, the hunt is on.

On another occasion during the mild summer time one of this band of four hackers hit his fairway shot askew sending it sky high into a stand of oak trees near where my husband was standing. DH heard a "thunk" and thought it was the ball dropping on the ground behind him. He turned to look and there lay a fish flopping on the rough! The next sound was of the seagull trying to recover from being whacked by the errant golf ball while sitting on a limb hoping to enjoy his fish from the freighter shipping channel.

Oh, the joys of amateur golf. November is perfect. See you on the links. Bring your fishing rod!

What town are you from in Michigan? We are too, although we've lived in Florida 32 years. Gosh, where does the time go? I was born in Pontiac and we lived in Clarkston all my life, until marriage. Then we stayed sorta around the same area....Holly, Waterford, Union Lake, but moved to Florida in 1975.

Those stories are too funny. My hubby did the same thing when we lived there. He didn't play 22 straight months, but was on a league that played in the winter, and he has some of those stories. Now we're Florida wimps! BUT, we will be traveling with our golf clubs....just in case!

Default Reporting back

We arrived in Fairfield Glade last Wednesday evening, just in time for the big storm Actually, all we got in FFG was rain - but in trying to go find someplace to eat, I got turned around on a very dark, very lonely road that wasn't marked (as far as curve signs) and my windshield was very smeary and I couldn't see a thing, so that was pretty scary. I finally got turned around and back to civilization and we stopped at the first place we saw, which was a barbecue place - and not too bad.

THE COLOR!!! OMG! I figured we'd be too late and I was so overjoyed at
the beautiful color. Had I remembered to pack my camera? Of course not!
We bought a disposable, so I hope they turn out.

We didn't do too much exciting. Gemthornton, you'll love this. We played golf on Friday (Thursday was too cold!) and quit after 9 holes. We were beyond frustrated at trying to find our balls in the piles of leaves. Of course the "course people" said "Well, if you stay in the fairway....." Thanks, bud!

We had a lovely time....we've had a lot of bad news here lately and almost didn't go, but hubby said we needed to get away and celebrate life...so that's what we did. Can't wait to get back!!

SuzieQFL, sounds like we may have passed each other in FFG. We came up on the 16th, and are leaving tomorrow morning for Ohio. We are staying in Cookeville but have been to FFG twice. Also visited Lake Tansi & Cumberland State Park. You're right, the colors are still great.
