I looked at the t-mass system. I do not see the benefit of the foam in the center of the concrete wall, other than as a thermal brake. In our system the Styrofoam is both the form to hold the concrete, and as insulation. Also drywall can be attached to our foam without need to fir out the walls or in order to insulate. Siding or brick can attach straight to the foam on the outside. Did you get to read the web site for our system?

Don't know where to look. Drop me a private message with the info and I'll check it out. I am always open to new suggestions.
One of the reasons I've been looking at T-Mass is cost. We are going to an adult ed class taught by an architect and she has told us that the Insulation/Concrete/Insulation system can cost as much as 20% more than a concrete wall whereas we've been told that T-Mass is 2-4% more. That is a considerable difference! |

Yes, sorry, been busy fixing PC's and forgot...
Looked at the system and they both do the same thing, just differently. We took a night course on building a new house (highly recommended if you can find one) and the architect and builder did have some comments. Using concrete on the outside of styro requires a minimum of 8" of crete against soil. That can add cost and thickness. Cost is bad, thickness I consider good. Connecting siding, brick, drywall, etc is easier to the styro because of the exposed plastic anchors. Cost is definite factor in using this type of construction. And on another note: It's a good idea to use metal studs for residential construction if you can find someone that knows how. |

R-Values ranges from 11 to 40 depending on the thickness of the styro.

Not sure if I need a class. I have probably built a 1000 houses. Have sold material for, and helped homeowners with maybe 10,000 homes over the years. But a class is good. Still not sure how foam inside the concrete will insulate. Insulation is used to stop the transfer of heat and cold. It is most efectively used toward the living space. Metal studs are good for fire but still more expensive and harder to work with.

No problem we will talk later. Did you get a chance to look at the web site? I would like to do the foundation work in Hawks Bluff in the future. I think we are using the product of the future.
