I found the forum a few days ago, read most of the posts. Looks like a lot of interest in middle Tennessee.
I Went by Hawks Bluff today, got to meet with Paul. Looks like a big time operation. It is causing a lot of stir in the area. I was a builder/framer for 20 years. Running around the countryside. Lived in Tampa in 1970, then again in 1986, and lots of other states over the years. Moved back to the old home place in Cookeville Tn. in 1989, so my son could grow up on the creek and not in the city. Cookeville is located between two major lakes in the southeast. Dale Hollow and Center Hill lake are both record holding fishing lakes. They are both great boating and recreation lakes. For the last 15 years I have worked in outside sales for a major building materials supplier, I work in and know about most everything that is building in about 10 surrounding counties around Cookeville Putnam CO. And my son owns an insulated concrete form company, witch are being used for the foundations under many of the log homes in the area. So if we can be of any assistance or answer any location or building questions. Or maybe take photos of certain places. Please feel free to contact us. rescue1@charter.net |

Would that be Thermal Mass (T-Mass) by chance? If so I would like his company contact info as that is what we are planning on using when we move to Fairfield Galde in a few years. |

My intent wasn't to promote a copmany (sic), it was to find someone that uses a particular form of construction, which I intend to use when I build in Fairfield Glade.
If you're going to delete my post why is the originating post allowed? That post is a much more blatant form of advertising than mine ever had a chance of being. Just because a company name isn't given doesn't mean it's not advertising. Note the email contact. |

I did not intend to tick anyone off.
True I have been in the building industry for 35 years. True I work in sales in all the surrounding counties around Putnam. True I grew up in Cookeville and know the area very well. True I know where most of the new homes are being built. True I know most of the home builders and subs in the area. True I know the different forms of home construction. True being in sales I know the building materials available. True I know foundation materials and techniques for this area. So I thought that maybe I could answer some important questions for the good people of this forum. Questions about the people, the area the homes the towns the schools the recreation areas in the towns the local governments or anything they may want to ask a local. Tek I may know the form of construction you want to know about. also I am in Fairfield Glade quite often. |

Tek Freek,
Please don't take it personally, I just have to follow the rules too. Can't give the name of a specific company. Rescue1 seems to be offering honest advice to folks building and gives his reason. If you want to ask about a specific company. Please use PM. Or did I totally misunderstand and was that a process, not a Company name? |

I think what I mentioned earlier are trade names, not companies. I am assuming it's OK to mention them? Not sure - let me know.
It is a method used to pour concrete walls with styrofoam sandwiched in the middle, which gives an amazing R-value for insulation and a very quiet environment. Great for tornado and hurricane-prone areas. Most use it just for the basement, but I'm planning on basement and first floor (ranch). Takes much less energy to heat and cool, etc. Planning on building a "safe room" in the basement with it also. During my research into this I found the cost to be competitive (somewhat more expensive) with stick-built homes and the savings in energy to be very good. Construction time is shorter. rescue1: You didn't tick anyone off. I just couldn't figure out why I got slapped and you didn't. Now I know that mbmouse thought I was promoting a company as opposed to talking about a process. Last edited by Tek_Freek; 10-15-2006 at 12:07 PM. Reason: Removed trade names |

Tek Freek, and brcomm0
If ya'll are still interested in the method used to pour concrete walls with styrofoam on new construction. Let me know |

Appreciate it Rescue1, but we are specifically looking at builders using the T-Mass system, which places the styrofoam inside the concrete.
Thanks |
