Schools are fair. Greeneville City are better than County ones, but neither are all that amazing, compared to surrounding systems like Oak Ridge, Maryville, JC/Washington.

Job market depends on what field you're looking for... Weather is typical for Appalachian/Piedmont, summer highs in the 80s and low 90s and lows in the 60s/70s, winter highs in the 50s and lows in the teens, 20s 30s. A bit of snow every few years, mostly in the mountainous southern county region.

Crime is nearly nonexistent, especially if you're moving from a city.

Jabogitlu pretty much said it right. Greeneville city schools got all A's on their state report card this year. I would agree they don't compete with Maryville/Oak Ridge, but those schools are also outside Knoxville. For a town its size and not near a huge metro area, they are good. County schools are not bad by any means (they got A's and B's), and they are improving, but choose city schools if possible.

One thing I'll disagree with is that "snow every few years." There may not have been a lot, but every year when I grew up there, there was most certainly "some" snow. And, there was always snow on the mountains of course. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't expect a blizzard every year (although an occasional one comes), and don't expect zero snow or ice. The humidity is not bad at all. It has four seasons as is evident by most of the Appalachia/Upper South region.

As far as the job market, it is pretty slow in Greeneville, as is evident by a high unemployment rate. You may have to commute to one of the tri-cities to find a good one.

I would've agreed with you about the snow, a few years ago. Outside of a dusting, I've not personally experienced snow in Greene since 2000. Darn global warming.
