QUESTION ABOUT LIFE In TN...
okay some man/woman on the Texas site asked a good question: Any unique laws? Well that got me thinking- I know in NY we can now buy Beer on Sundays...we usually had to wait until noon on Sundays but now we don't have to...I don't drink but I did know this. There are not dry Counties in NY but a few small dry towns.
I have one specific question and then whatever you all want to add to it ---feel free....is there a tax on renting in TN?

nope No tax on renting.
Unique laws...the only one I can think of off the top of my head is the "move over law". If you are driving down a 4 lane Rd, the police has someone pulled over in the right hand lane, you are supposed to pull over to the left lane.

Road kill
I'm not sure, but I think it is now legal to pick-up road kill and take it home
and cook it in TN. Years ago it was no illegal to do so but I think it was done
anyway. I hit a deer with my truck it's coming home with me!!!!

You can only take the deer home with you if you call the game warden. They come out and inspect and if they believe you didn't aim for the deer, they will give you permission to take it home. If you just take it home, you can be charged for poaching/ hunting without a license...I kid you not!

This is an unwritten rule by the native east Tennesseans. If you are driving and following someone who has their turn signal on, the one behind puts the turn signal on, too, even though they aren't turning.
I always found this odd.

Wasn't there some odd tax on owning or opening a business? It seems as tho I read that there was this extreme amount added to business owners? I know hotel/motels have a high tax...

Speaking of taking home game, I think TN has a law that if you are caught shooting/taking a game animal unlicensed or out of season on your land, the gun and LAND is forfited to the county for auction. These folks are super serious about poechers!!

Iowa, too
has a law that you have to move over if a patrolman has someone pulled over. I, and a lot of others, do this for any vehicle at the side of a highway.
My wife says that she's seen the turn signal habit on country roads here.

TN is not exactly serious about poaching. TN is serious about confiscating property/money to fund its Boss Hogg politics. Ever heard of the weed tax?
I always thought the blinker relay thing was a good idea.
I know that in Anderson county, you can't buy beer between midnight and 12pm on sunday. Obviously, you should be in bed and at church during those hours. Respectable Baptists stock up before sunday morning.

I think it is a law that you have to wear your shoes when driving.
There are taxes on drugs. If you ge arrested for drugs and don't have stickers showing you paid tax they can get you for that too.
Isn't that beer thing all over the state? That it can't be sold between certain hours. Bars have to close by 3am or at least in Nashville they do.
Not sure about the business owners tax. Hotels/Motels have high tax partly to pay for tourism advertising.
