Default Just bought a place between Clifton and Savannah

We just bought a place in the country between Clifton and Savannah and I have a chose of schools for them. We are in Hardin county so the boys could ride the bus 20 miles to Savannah or I can transport them to Clifton 6 miles. Both schools are rated very high on the Schoolmatters.com web site. Savannah is bigger so it has several schools (elementary, middle school, and high school), on the other hand Clifton has only one school (K-12) and only about 320 kids in the whole school (last years graduating class was 45). My questions is does anyone have any experience with either school system and could recommend which is best? Any other advice for this area? Places of interest? Thanks for any info or advise.

We are moving soon to Savannah-Counce also. Do you like it? What's the best and worst thing about it? We are coming this weekend to house hunt and all. Tell me about the schools! I have a 3 grader.

Default Country schools are the best

If you are fortunate to find a house where you child can go to a country school instead of in town it is much much better. My boys, 3rd and 4th graders, go to Whites Elementary School. We don't live in the right location for it but the district lets them attend there as long as we provide the transportation. If the house you find puts you in the town area I would talk to the district and the school that you want to go to and get permission. You can check out the school test scores on schoolmatter.com .

There are so many "bests" about the place I hardly know where to begin. The cost of living is much less. The area is beautiful and the neighbors are so friendly. There is a hospital in Savannah and unfortunately we had to try it out, it was very nice. Sure was better then the one in Arizona.

Our first grader attends Waynesboro Elem in Wayne Co which is the school system Clifton is a member of. I am a transplant from GA and a Grandmother raising our 7 year old granddaugher. Compared with GA schools, this school is over the top. There are so many activities that learning is fun and not a chore. The teachers are very dedicated. We have a house on the river in Savannah that we are going to sell because after remodeling it, we decided to stay in Wayne County. Good luck. Louise

I am kinda late to this post but we had 3 children in the Frank Hughes School in Clifton. It is a K-12 small school. As with most schools they are what you make of the opportunity but the resources allocated to FHS are meager compared to the larger schools. FHS is a good school for grade K-6. One of our children recently decided to drop out of FHS and attent the high school in Waynesboro. The larger student body, much larger band and marching band as well as other better funded activities seems to have gone over well. The other 2 children are also considering attending the high school in Waynesboro as well but have not made up their mind yet.

Frank Hughes school does a real nice job with what meager resources they get which is not their fault. You might try allowing your children to attend both schools and find out which they like best. Bigger is not always better but sometimes smaller schools just are not equipped to teach and develop teens as well as the larger schools are.

ALL of our children are A students at both schools. Our children at Frank Hughes school hope the band will attract more kids and hopefully have enough for a marching band.

Anyhow, hope this helps.
