This next set of Oak Ridge photos include the Public Fishing Dock, Oak Ridge - the part that's in Roane County and Jackson Square. It was so foggy the morning that I went to the fishing dock that I didn't even know untill the fog lifted, that there were trees directly across from the dock (and pretty close, too). I shot fog and sun photos at that location. It's my favorite place in Oak Ridge.

Default Oak Ridge - Roane County

Most of Oak Ridge is in Anderson County but there is a piece in Roane County. The K-25 plant, The East Tennessee Technology Park Overlook and the "scenic" train ride are in Roane County. Umm, Rarity Ridge is supposed to be in Oak Ridge, right? I don't think it really is in Oak Ridge (more about that when I do my trip report - I stopped by there) but it is in this Roane County neck of the woods, not the Anderson County part. I added the flags at the plant in case you want to see what the Tennessee State flag looks like.

One thing I want to add about getting around. If you take Emory Valley Road all the way to the end, you wind up at Melton Hill Lake Park and the marina. You have to make a left at the end of Emory Valley Rd to get to the parking lot. If you make a right when Emory Valley Rd ends and follow that road next to the Lake until it also ends, you come to Edgemoor, make a right on Edgemoor and you will see Haw Ridge Park on the left and a little further up on the left, the public fishing pier and boat launch. On the right will be Centennial Golf Course. Just want to give you an idea of where some things are clustered. By the way, the houses near Melton Hill Lake are really nice.

Great pics! I grew up in Oak Ridge and you really captured the beauty of the city. Just for clarification, the new Rarity Ridge development is within the Oak Ridge city limits.

Well, that perplexed me because as I was leaving Rarity Ridge, heading back toward K-25 (and in the direction of Oak Ridge,Anderson County), I saw a Welcome to Oak Ridge sign making me think maybe Rarity Ridge wasn't actually in Oak Ridge. I know they advertise about the great Oak Ridge schools so they should be in OR but the sign wasn't close to RR so I don't get it unless the town line doesn't bisect the highway but runs along with it before it crosses the road. I got to the train ride really early so I kept going figuring I would check out Rarity Ridge to kill some time. I didn't notice any "Welcome To" signs going in that direction, but I did on the way back.

Maybe I'm just mistaken as to where I saw the "Welcome To" sign.
