One place Laura C didn't mention, especially if you have children, is the Children's Museum on Robertsville Road. But it's fun even for adults who like to act like children!!

Unless its changed in the past 5 years, there is one synogoge (sp) in Oak Ridge. Its just not on the Turnpike Its behind the hospital. And yes, the Oak Ridge Mall is a terrible excuse for anything. *sigh* I remember when it opened (1991) and we were so excited. My first job was there (in my now-husband's family store). Now its just depressing. Yet, I still want to move home. LOL The pictures didn't help either

As for the question on rental homes - my BIL & SIL rented a nice B-house near Cedar Hill park for around $500/month. That was a 2 bedroom, 1 bath with a fireplace on a quarter acre with off street parking. Not a great home, but good enough. And to explain myself - many of the originial homes in Oak Ridge are from the war effort in the 40s. They are often called by letter. And A is a tiny (maybe 400 sq ft) home. B is a bit larger (2 bedroom/one bath, but many have been expanded a bit) with the front door opening into the kitchen but a nice porch off the living room in the back. There are also C's, D's, and E's. E's are the largest, but I get C's and D's confused.

LauraC:

I never read your report. Lovely. I always wondered if you went to the Museum of Appalachia.

Is there also a picture thread related to your trip? If so I have had a hard time finding it.

If anyone knows could you post a link here for easy access? Thanks
