Nashville/Murfreesboro Tennessee area military veterans! I need information please. (Knoxville: universities, inspections)

My husband and I are looking to move to the Nashville/Murfreesboro area. He's a service connected disabled veteran. We want to know about the Veterans hospital in Nashville and Murfreesboro. Can anyone give us some idea of how the care is?

We currently live in Illinois and have a great spinal cord doctor. Our priority is a doctor who puts his patients first. We are specifically concerned about the spinal cord team and how they are. But any answers are most welcome. As a veteran's wife I know how valuable a veterans opinion is on their care.

I can't be of much help but I did go to Murfreesboro a few years ago for extensive hearing exams. I can say (at least at that time - and I have not heard anything bad from other vets in the area since then) that the facilities were good and the staff seemed prefessional and pleasant. I didn't see any of the stuff they've done TV news reports about over the years.

My wife and I live here in the Tennessee Valley between Chattanooga and Knoxville and the drive for us was about 2 hours to Murfreesboro. That area is a nice place to live and one of the state's larger universities is located there as well. Hope this helps - at least a little!

The news has had horrible things about the VA hospital in Murfreesbor lately.
But I had a friend who had back surgery in the Nashville one then recuperated in the Murfreesbor one. He was extremely pleased with the care at both. In Nashville it is connected to Vanderbilt I mean actually physically connected and Vandy doctors did his surgery. The Murfreesbor one has a beautiful campus even a fishing lake with poles to use! But they have been restricted to no new intakes when they flunked inspections and there are always threats to close it.

Wow Tam, thanks for the information. We would like to go to Nashville for every visit if possible. We will live in southern Tennessee so I hope they do not force us to a certain facility and we can choose.
