I thought it was very cheap compared to coastal rates.
I would presume that your electric is TVA Hydro-Electric.

We're crazy about our woodstove! One thing I want to suggest you keep in mind about pellet stoves--their fuel doesn't grow on trees. Woodstoves burn wood, which is readily available...without a panicked trip to home depot. We've got a Dutchwest Extra-large non-catalytic stove and it keeps us plenty warm.

I should also mention that we do have a gas generator (roll-around type) in the event of an extended outage, for the fridge and freezer.

TVA power comes from hydro, coal-burning plants, and nuclear (when they can get the blasted things to work).

TVA was building a dandy nuclear plant in Hartsville one time but they didn't finish it except for the cooling tower. For a while there it looked like the world's largest barbeque pit.

Any thoughts on radiant floor heating. I've been researching and they say it has come along way. Also gaining popularity.

I would presume that with the new PEX piping it would be great. I think you would need a basement or a slab too be efficient. I read some where that a certified PEX Piping installer has too install the radiant heat. If not the warranty would be "VOID" They have a grid system that the PEX piping is snapped into if you use it on a slab. Looks like a floor tile with nobs, some what like a Lago block and the pipe snaps between the nobs. Then the concrete is poured over it...
