Default Moved from San Diego to Jackson

I just wanted anyone that is interested to know that we moved to Jackson, TN from San Diego in June 2005 and only wished we had done it sooner. I know that there are people that will read this thread because we run into many people here that are recent transplants from Calif. Compared to Calif. the housing here is incredibly undervalued, no state income tax, very low property taxes, no congested freeways, no smog, warm friendly and happier people. As a business owner, there is far less red tape, far less expense of doing business, far less cutthroat competition, not to mention many visible opportunities here in Jackson. Jackson seems to be city with a passion, purpose and a mission to improve itself. Yes Jackson like any other city has issues, the public school system is stuck in a quagmire of social and racial issues but with it's incredibly low cost of living a family could possibly send their kids to one of the great private schools in the area. I recently read that one local private school had 98% of its' graduates go on to college, what public school anywhere even comes close ? Crime is an issue mainly in the east Jackson area but hopefully with the improvements and the road widening and lighting to the downtown area and the renewed business interest in downtown the criminal statistics should improve for that area. If one is interested in moving to Jackson I would at this point in time recommend 1st investigating the area north of the I-40 near Union University. The area around Lambuth University is an older area with some real investment opportunity.
