If any of you are interested in Civil War Memorabilia, one of the largest shows in the South is going on Saturday in Nashville at the Fairgrounds. I am going

Oh how I wish we were already in Tenn. My great great grandfather served in the Civil War, and I have his discharge papers. I would definitely loved to be able to attend this.
Is this event held yearly?

Yes it is! We enjoyed it very much, but there is just almost TOO much to see.... 4 buildings full of relics, memorabilia, even re-enactment clothing, etc. I had to sit down for a while, and had a nice long chat with 'Robert E. Lee'!!! He was an excellent impersonator, and a true "southern gentleman".

You mean the "War of Northern Aggression". :-) Just teasing!

There are battle reenactments at the various battlefields in Tennessee. I know a couple of guys who do that; they're really in to it.

Two of the better battlefields to visit are Ft. Donelson and Shiloh. If you're in Nashville you can visit Fort Negley (built by the pesky Yankees during the war). There's a great view of downtown from the top of the hill.

Do you know what campaigns your gg-grandfather fought in? I think you can get the information from the Department of Defense (or somewhere).
