Thanks for the info
Hi
Thanks for the information. I had wondered about finding a job at one of the banks or even up at the medical center. I will be receiving a pension check, so a part time job would work, especially since I really did not want to have to travel very far.
We are looking for an area that is slow paced, this hectic life in Central FL is nut and we are ready to leave it behind.
How about homes? We figure if we can purchase something for about $125,000+ we should be able to live in something that would have some property.
Thanks again

housing market
for $125,000, you can get a really nice place in Wayne County. In, fact, you will probably find a number of charming places much cheaper, with some land. Creeks are abundant (do check the flood plain map at the courthouse before you buy). There are areas of the county that are very beautiful. Wayne County has great natural ambiance. A lovely place for sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee. Stay off Buttermilk Ridge. Tornados seem to especially like Buttermilk Ridge.

Yeah, but with the loss of the meth labs there goes some more potential high dollar jobs.

Location of family
My family live "up the mountain" as I call it, off 64 onto Hurricane Creek Rd. They used to live in Clifton until about 10 years ago.

Well, what a laugh, we will live not far from there. Any chance you know anyone who would be willing to move to(or is already in) waynesboro to help be a caregiver for/with my friend? Her husband has become unable to walk real good at times and falls, she is unable to pick him up, sometimes at night sometimes in the day, we were thinking about someone moving on site as kind of a grounds keeper/part time care help. They have a vacant 2 bedroom 1 bathroom m/h (approx 950 sq ft)on site with 11 acres, that they could live in rent free in exchange for mowing, weeding, sitting with husband while she runs errands, helping when he falls. They would need to pay their own light/phone/cable bill? Any ideas or help, please point me in their direction. Thanks for listening.
Any thoughts of when you'll move there?

Not soon enough
If it were up to me, we would be in the process of moving now right now. But, with the housing market as it is at this moment, we will need to wait for the market to get better so we can sell our home here in Central FL.
As for the caregiver situation, I would suggest she ask her family doctor if there is someone they may know who can help her out.
Our plans are to visit family in Waynesboro during Thanksgiving, and I may just wander around and see what is available in the housing market.

I moved from Ocala FL to East TN this past Sept, although I'm not in the area most of you are looking at I do love it here in Seymour. I am between Knoxville and Sevierville. Its a gorgeous quiet town in the valley. We didnt get much snow here this winter, they usually dont get much and when they do its gone by noon. The views are beautiful and I have the best of both worlds, a city to the North and a tourist town to the South, I was born and raised in Florida and never lived any where else for 64 years and I dont regret leaving at all

Moving
Yeah us to, we have 3 places to sell here in fla and would take a large loss in todays market. If you are looking in the area try tennessee land.org or tennessee land.com, thats how we found our place you can narrow it down by area, price, acres, etc. Good luck. I think we have decided to check with the local churches, and maybe post a "wanted" poster there for the caregiver. We probally will not be there till christmas. My husband is also a born here floridian but cant wait to leave.

Central Florida Girl, the summers here are very hot and humid and for the past several summers accompanied by severe drought. I will have to say the ticks and chiggers are oppressive during this time of year but disappear after the first hard frost.
Here is a general information link on Wayne County that you may find useful. This is kind of an old post. Have you moved to Waynesboro yet?
