Hello Everyone
I've heard some good things about Tenn. I am thinking of retiring there in about 15-20 years. Looking forward to learning a lot about the state and the best place to settle down. Any suggestions would be appreciated greatly. Thanks.

Any suggestions you get now, would probably be worthless 15-20 years from now. What area are you interested in? West, Middle and East Tennessee all offer something different.

I may be retiring there in 15-20 years but that don't mean I wouldn't buy something now. The only area I have heard about is Franklin. I'm looking for an area with good (warm) weather also.

Being an ex-Long Islander myself, I'd say also put Hendersonville on your list of towns to look at. I've been here 6+ eyars now.

Thanks. I will. Where in Long Island are you from? I grew up in Syosset and have lived in Lindenhurst for the last 14 years.

If your looking for a vacation type home then maybe eastern TN is where you want to look. Most of my research has been on middle TN since my goal is to move there while working. Eastern TN is home to the Smokey Mountains and gorgeous forested land. Perhaps a few acres where you can do some hunting/shooting on your land and are close to the best outdoor areas like the mountains for hiking, wildlife, river tubing etc.

Or the Cumberland Plateau. There's just as much hunting and fishing on the Plateau as there is in East Tennessee. Plus, the Plateau is closer to Nashville (and the Nashville airport) yet enjoys milder summer temps. There are a lot of vacation homes/cabins around Center Hill and Dale Hollow lakes. Cookeville and Crossville are very popular retirement areas.
