NJ to Tennessee, good spots?
Where would a person from NJ fit in well? We are family a family of 6, who love the outdoors and participating in sports for the children. Not trying to make Tennessee into NJ, just want to find a place where there are a lot of transplants. Our budget would be about $425,000 for a 4-5bedroom.

Well, let's see . . . we put the people from California in Middle Tennessee, and the people from Florida in East Tennessee (just to make 'em go to UT games), and the people from the midwest in Chattanooga . . . but I'm not sure where we put the people from New Jersey . . .
;-) Just teasing.
I don't know that there's anyplace particularly where people from New Jersey have moved to. Sounds like you might like one of the towns between Nashville and Knoxville, but you'd need to tell us more about what you're looking for. There's lots of outdoor stuff here (lakes, state parks, camping, fishing, boating, the Great Smokeys, etc.), and every place has a variety of sports for kids. With your budget you wouldn't have a problem finding something, except maybe for a few very expensive areas such as Belle Meade or Oak Hills in Nashville.

Hello, welcome to the forum. For 425K you will have plenty to choose from in just abut any town, except maybe Belle Meade and Brentwood. Just about the rest of the state, your good. Honestly you can get 4/2 1/2 for 350K in most nicer areas too, big difference between NJ and TN housing prices along with taxes, just some food for thought. I do have a question and it is out of sheer curiosity, why do you want to look for an area that has a lot of transplants from elsewhere?
Oh and just for fun (mine, I am weird and love looking up houses on realtor.com for the heck of it ) Here is what newer 5 bedrooms in and around several different cities look like and cost here in TN.

I was curious about the two you listed for Belle Meade (a house for 400k in BM?). They're nice enough areas . . . but they're not in the City of Belle Meade (unless I'm mistaken).

I just did a quick search on Realtor.com for houses that had 5 bedrooms and were less than 10 years old by those cities. Nothing came up using the Belle Meade zip code that actually said Belle Meade but these did say "West Meade" so I assumed they were at least close? So either there are no 5 bedroom houses for sale in Belle Meade at the moment or they do not list them on the MLS, which is what I am leaning towards thought wise, but could be very wrong.

There might be some nice 25 bedroom homes for sale in Belle Meade! ;-)
Yes, West Meade is "next door" to Belle Meade, then a little further west and over a large hill, is Belleuve (where I live).

Well after some internet searching I have thought about Hendersonville. What is your thoughts on this area. My only concern is the small lot sizes and by the looks of most houses, there seems to be little inventory with trees in the yard???? I like the fact that there is a lake in the area for recreational sports.

If you want larger lots and more trees but still close proximity to Nashville and lakes, you might want to look at Gallatin. It's not as pricey as Hendersonville so you can generally get more bang for your buck. It's also a real town with a real downtown and historic districts, and not just a generic suburb (Hendersonville didn't even exist until 30-40 years ago or so).
