Their even salvaging old sunken trees from river bottoms and old wooden bridges and coffer damns all over the USA. Old wood is very rare for wood workers and interior designers.

There is a business in Portland, tn. It buys old barns and sells the wood to anyone that might want it. I'm sorry I don't know the name of it. I just remember passing through town.
Also you might try looking in those little free papers that are at the businesses. I have seen ads for people that want to tear down barns in them. If they tear them down they must be doing it for something, right?

Halfback is on a distinguished road
just buy new wood from local sawmill its the same oak just without the bugs that will eat the rest of your house(powder post beetles)the weathered siding is junk unless you plane it down, which will dull your blades quickly. it will also break drill bits and not accept nails well- its petrified wood.the dry interior beams are what the salvage man is after to build post and beam houses with. th
i helped my brother plane some old oak fencing to wrap a hot tub with and some of it smelled like manure -go figure
