What do most people in TN think of it's neighbor to the east, North Carolina? Any opinions?

Default opinions from Tennesseans onNorth Carolina

I don't claim to be an expert on NC but have spent some there and liked it. I would not mind living there in the least.

States shouldn't have self-esteem issues, worrying about others opinions. As they say, what others think of you is none of your business. Chin up, North Carolina!

I think of NC as more professional than most Southern states. Charlotte banking and research triangle genuises. They have it together better than TN.

I lived most of my life in TN about 30 minutes from the North Carolina border. I think mostly of Asheville, so super hippy and lots of fun. Also mountains of North Carolina, so really old school Southerners. Also spent a lot of time in Charlotte, so IKEA and Carowinds...

Those're my impressions. Hey, you asked. lol.

I have lived in both States.

Both have similar beauty in the Smokies, NC has the beaches and a higher cost of living.

People in both are friendly.

NC is getting a bit more crowded and people moving in are changing the State more than in TN.

If you like a more liberal swing then NC would be for you.

IF a more conservative stance than TN would fit.

Slightly more crowded freeways in NC than in TN, but not by much.

Perhaps a bit more humidity in NC (Allowing for Memphis which is about as bad as NC).

NC is a bit more compact and TN is stretched out more.

Both have rural areas if you like that.

Nashville is a great city if you love Country Music, Knoxville very relaxed.

Charlotte is busy and the other major cities in NC a bit less so.

What are you looking for?

I'm not looking for anything. I'm a native of NC so I've traveled across all of NC and I've been to TN a few times (mostly eastern TN and Nashville). I'm just curious to hear opinions on NC from people in TN because despite the fact that both states border each other, you never hear people compare the two or put the two in one sentence. At least this is the case over here in NC. People always compare NC to South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia but never Tennessee. Also, I've seen many people pair TN with Kentucky based off similarities but that's about it.
