Hello from the North. I have an unique question perhaps....if I am to bring an RV from Montana where there are no sales tax (already licensed in the state) to Tennessee, what taxes other than local registration fees might I face?

I've seen some posts by others here who have brought RV's to the state when they moved. They can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that you would just have to pay the license registration fee (which is similar to a car). The only time that you would have to pay any additional sales tax on the purchase of the RV is if you've owned it for 90 days or less (they would then consider it as an "out-of-state" purchase and you would owe the difference between what you paid in sales tax and what you would have paid in Tennessee).

When I moved back to TN from Florida (July 2006) it cost me $58.00. That was for license plate and transfer fee. I think it was about 90 days before I got the new TN title in the mail tho.

I see on one of the States pages each county has a different privilige tax.
County Clerk Locations
Can anyone explain to me exactly what that is?

That sounds like the hated Wheel Tax. Not all counties have it. Basically, it is a flat per vehicle tax that you have to pay each year. Its only purpose is to fill county coffers.
They sometimes manage to pass a wheel tax by threatening to raise the property tax rate if the voters won't pass the wheel tax.

And almost always with the slogan "It's all for the children".

$24, unless it has gone up recently. That's all I paid last time I renewed.
There is a title fee when you bring a vehicle into the state and some odd small tax. I think it costs about $10 total.
Most privately owned boat and utility trailers don't require a license. You can license them if you want, so that you won't get stopped if you tow out of state. You can buy either a permanent (forever) semi trailer license (under $100 last time I bought one), or you can license annually for under $20 bucks.
I don't know anyone who has licensed a trailer that has not bought the permanent tag.
