Sharon7,
I hope you will find what you are looking for in Iron City. When you get there Miss Virgina lives close to my mom and my granny. My moms name is Cricket Kimbrell and my granny is Inell Short you can go visit them and they can tell you about Blue Allen. I remember him so well and I remember his honey and bisquits we use to eat on his front porch. Take care and good luck with your research.

Anyone know any of the Crafts...Mack and Celia? They lived on Oak street? Those are my grandparents, both deceased. They had 11 children.....Willie, Brant, Paul, Mack Jr.,Leo,Donald,Rudy(Daniels),Velma(Deitz),Lillian( Deckert),Quardillia(Davis) and another sister that died very young. The Craft family goes way back to the 1800's also.I visited Iron City many times growing up...I always loved being there....always pleasant! I would loved to get information or just talk with anyone that knew this family. Most of them have passed now...Donald and Mack jr are still living and reside in the Columbia,Tn area. Thanks in advance, Doug

Doug,
I remember Rudy Daniels. She has a son named Tony she had more kids but I can't remember there names.. I think she had a grand daughter named Dana not for sure. But I do remember Mack Craft. He use to sit on the porch with a chew with his overalls on. Ruby lost her house when the torando came through in 94. She put a double wide on her lot and my cousin and her family bought it. They have lived there for a while now. I don't remember much more.

Tn Girl,
Thanks for the reply. Aunt Ruby...has three children, Tony, Linda, Janxie and grandchilren, Dana, Darla and Danny. It was horrible when the tornado destroyed the house. Pawpaw was a mess and always had a chew in his mouth and those overalls on. I haven't been to Iron City in a while and would like to visit soon. Have you seen the video about Iron City? I hope it isn't true about how the town has fallen apart.

I miss seeing eveyone in Iron City. I worked with Dana at Gobbles Foodland in Loretto for a while and my brother went to school with Danny. The video of Iron City was terrible. I could not believe someone would make something so foolish and then expect tourism to pick up there. It made people more scared of the place than they were before. It still looks the same to me. The store burnt down but now they have reopened it with the canoe place where the cafe use to be. I go home about twice a month and it still feels good to see everyone and to see if anything has changed. But alot is not there anymore but it still feels good to visit and think about the old times. It was very nice chatting with you keep in touch.

Does anyone on this forum know anything about the tipple collapse at the Pinckney Mine in 1897? Old stories about it, etc?
