Not necessarily. You need to regard the source of the info you're getting. I might be inclined to take that info with a grain of salt unless you can verify it for yourself.
Those so called crime stats you're referring to for instance... because if you actually read the links I posted you will see that the articles based on them are misleading and more about grabbing headlines than about being factual.

There is a guy on one of the other forums who seems to think he's an expert on the south because he spent a few months somewhere in the Carolinas and has driven through some other places on the interstate.
He'll be more than happy to tell you what a bible thumping, horrible, racist, sexist, backwards, good ole boy place the entire south is, based on his 'ever so extensive expertise' gained in his very brief time in one city.
Lots and lots of people just like him, willing to share their 'knowledge' on subjects they know next to nothing about with anyone who will listen.

TN isn't going to be 'the right place' for everyone, but I hope people make that decision based on facts and solid research and not rely on stereotypes, blogs, message boards, and fluff pieces like those crime articles or 'best of' articles with the fun little slideshows!

Ever heard difference of opinions? Where are you finding your stats and doing your research? These days one can find just about anything on the internet to support a point of view. That doesn't make it right or wrong, BUT when you have 4 pages of regular posters from City Data that actually live in Tennessee, telling you their opinions and it doesn't add up to what you found in your research, I call troll, you never wanted to move here. We that post on City Data are not paid to do so, we do it because we like our new home towns and the state we reside in.
Tennessee doesn't sound like what you are looking for and guess what? We don't care if you move here or not as we already are here. Well I hope you do not move here, as we are over run with wild rogue cops and crime.

Original poster actually wants to start a business in North Georgia. He's had several posts about it, looking for investors. Not sure why he started the thread, really....
