Looking at Morristown!
My husband has a job interview in Morristown this month. If we relocate, we will probably build a home but will also look at existing homes too. We have 1 child in middle school. I was looking for areas that have low crime and decent schools, public or private. We have to live within 40 min of Morristown. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to consider Greeneville Tn. It has some awesome mountain views. Very low crime rate and above average schools. I was born and raised here and it is a wonderful place to raise your children.

I would definitely live in Greeneville over Morristown. Best of luck on the interview!

thank you both! We will be visiting the area at the end of this month. From other threads I have read here, I noticed most people spoke highly of the area but not of Morristown, I just was unsure of which towns were within th 40 min time frame. I will definitely research Greeneville.

I would definitely prefer living in Greeneville over Morristown.
Or look into East Knox County. You'd be just a half hour from Morristown but also only 10 or so minutes from heavy duty shopping in Knoxville (Dillard's, Sears, Belk, JCPenney, Target, Sam's Club, Home Depot, Circuit City, etc.). East Knox County is very rural but is a quick zip into downtown Knoxville as well as over to the Smoky Mountains.
Carter High School and Carter Middle School cover East Knox County. The people around there are rabid about their high school; there's a lot of community pride in East Knox County. And it's really, really beautiful.

Can anyone suggest a hotel to stay at during our visit? There will be 3 of us. I am looking forward to visiting the area. We currently live in MD just outside Washington DC,
we have lived here for 2 yrs. Thanks for your help.

Sales tax is 9% but the rest of your costs will drop so dramatically that you won't notice it for awhile.
I spent most of my life in Washington, D.C. Car insurance, registration, electricity, heating and cooling costs will be a small percentage of what you're paying now. Property taxes will be less than you can imagine paying. And there's no state income tax.
In East Tennessee, you can build a 4 bedroom house for the cost of an efficiency condo in D.C.
For a hotel, the Comfort Suites is conveniently located.

Thinking of relocating to Tenn. I have a friend near in Hohenwald and saw some places in Sharon,, what is the best area West, East, North, South? I am a senior citizen and want to have level land or lot. Like rural or small town but near towns for Medical, shopping, college, activities, any information would be helpful.
