Default Thinking on starting a new life in Collegedale...

Hi guys, this is my first post here. I live in Florida. Have never been to Tennessee, but my cousin lives there. She has been inviting me to go visit her since she moved there. I've been married for 24 yrs. but I think is time to start a new life for myself. I don't know how am I going to get through this, because 24 yrs is a life time. But I think this year is the year that I FINALLY have to think about ME and try to be happy.
And to make things worst my daughter is in the Marines, and she just left, she was here visiting me before her deployment to Iraq that is coming up soon. That is going to be a very hard time for me when she leaves. It did hurt me when the other day she told me, "mom, why don't you guys move someplace else, you guys are not happy". Little that she knows that I do have plans to move but not with her father. But I don't want her to have that on her mind when she is "over there" .
My cousin was telling me about this town called Collegedale. She lives in Chattanooga. If you guys have any information that you can share with me. How are the rents there, maybe I wanted to rent a small house. Or any other info.
I just hope that I do have the courage to get through this.
Also if you guys know about any Marine Parents support group in the area.
Thank you guys for listening to me. Have a nice day!!!

--Marines-- are always in my thoughts and prayers.

I also pray while they are away in a war their parents don't surprise them by leaving each other.

MARMAC, thanks for your thoughts and prayers for our Marines.
You really surprised me with your post. It took a lot from me to be able to finally do my post here. I have never done this before, ask for advice or post any personal stuff in a public forum. But you don't a clue what am going through in my personal life. And I know VERY well that this is not the best time for me to take this decision. So if you think about it, I have to have very good reasons to get to this point.

Heidyjanet, I am sorry for your troubles.

While I live in Chattanooga we visit Collegedale a few times a year for this or that and love it each time. It is just a hop up the freeway from here. I think it's a great area with alot to offer. There is a large Adventist population and the major employer is McKee foods/Little Debbie. It's a small city that is growing every day.

Try our local paper for rentals: www.timesfreepress.com

You may have to broaden your range to include Apison and Ooltewah as Collegedale is a small town and may not have alot on the market when/if you decide to come.

I think this will be a nice change for you, maybe when you need it most? We will keep you and your family in our thoughts.

heidyjanet, its been a year and a half since you bravely took your first step in reaching out to others for suppport in the pursuit of your new life in Collegedale. Im also considering the leap to Collegedale from NYC to be with my boyfriend F/T and stumbled upon this thread of posts. Can you tell me, have you made the transition yet? and if so, are you glad you did? what can you tell me about Tennessee? thanks, and God Bless you and your family.
