Since your still young... I would suggest your reverse your priorities and find area's that needs a welder... then pick a place to live. Rent first! What good is finding a place that is perfect, but there's no work? Remember "mountain views" cost more. The single most important factor in making a new life is to "move to something"
not "move from something". Remember the ole saying... "fools rush in where angels fear to tread".

This is not criticism, just advice.
Being a "seasoned" worker... I wll let you in on a secret... find a good job (not necessarily the highest paying) and build some valuable experiences .....then begin to network through your newly established life. Once you have some roots... and some local knowledge, you will find your life in "context". Kids grow up... jobs change, what you want today will be different tomorrow. Dream, plan, do...so it's important to have a stratigic plan (far reaching) in order to find success.
The Knoxville area would be a good place to start...
