My Husb And I Are Looking Into Moving To Tenn But We're Not To Sure Were To Look. My Husb Would Like Mountain View But Live On Flat Ground. Me I Could Careless! I Am Just Ready To Get Out Of Orlando, The Crime Here Is Really Bad. I Have A 3yr Old And A 6mth Old And Do Not Want Them To Grow Up Around This Type Of Environment. Also My Husb Has Been A Welder For 7yrs Now And Would Be Looking To Relocate. Anyone With Any Suggestions Would Be Great!! Some Areas I Have Looked Into Was Mcneill County (riceville, Athens And Etowah). Thanks!!!

Since your still young... I would suggest your reverse your priorities and find area's that needs a welder... then pick a place to live. Rent first! What good is finding a place that is perfect, but there's no work? Remember "mountain views" cost more. The single most important factor in making a new life is to "move to something" not "move from something". Remember the ole saying... "fools rush in where angels fear to tread". This is not criticism, just advice.

Being a "seasoned" worker... I wll let you in on a secret... find a good job (not necessarily the highest paying) and build some valuable experiences .....then begin to network through your newly established life. Once you have some roots... and some local knowledge, you will find your life in "context". Kids grow up... jobs change, what you want today will be different tomorrow. Dream, plan, do...so it's important to have a stratigic plan (far reaching) in order to find success.

The Knoxville area would be a good place to start...

Been there... done that.

I have lived in TN for quite a few years and Athens for the last 3. We raised our children here and now my neice and great neices are here. It is a nice town with access to Knoxville and Chattanooga. For jobs they are there but it is all what you are looking for and priorities. Heil (builds trucks, tankers) hires welders. My neices like their schools and also enjoy my church which has a large youth program.

Dave_n_Tenn, I love what you said about the single most important factor in making a new life -- to "move to something" not "move from something". We knew that we wanted to move from Phoenix, but are still trying to figure out where we should be!

I know of a company in Elizabethton who is currently looking for welders and 1 second shift welding supervisor. There are mountains and flat land there.
