Hey all,
I am wanting to move to Tennessee come August and was wondering if someone could tell me how Hendersonville is.
Does anyone have pictures they can share?
Thanks

As Lake Lady suggested, more information on just what type of community you're looking for would be helpful. Personally, I don't like what is happening to Hendersonville...it's becoming (has become) over-built with malls and sub-divisions. I got fed up and sold my home there three years ago. Lord knows, there's just about every kind of retail facility available the you could ever hope to find...in fact, from Hendersonville to Nashville, along Gallatin Road, it's an unending stretch of malls, car dealerships, fast food chains, and furniture stores. Now, should you be coming from Detroit or Newark, for examples, you might find Hendersonville downright country...and you will, for sure, find wonderful people around every corner.

Oh lets see.
I currently live in Michigan and basically live in a suburb about 20 miles away from Detroit.
I am wanting to move to Tennessee and was wanting a city that was 1) low in crime 2) has a hospital near by - by the way how far is the nearest hospital for the people living in Hendersonville? 3) i was raised in the suburbs and also lived up north - kind of what you would consider quiet and isolated and this house is on a secluded man made lake...that is my grandma house - love it....so I really want the best of both worlds...
4) I need to know what kind of things there are to do in Hendersonville for a 20 year old girl....my daughter is making the move with me and I do not want her being overly bored and barking at me that she is not happy.
I was searching for apartments in Hendersonville and liked that it was in a country setting and the fact that Nashville is what about 18 miles away. Which is good for me....have my quiet living and the fun stuff not too far up the road. By the way, how long is the drive to Nashville from Hendersonville?
Thanks for the input

hahahaha....I am coming from a suburb 20 miles from Detroit....you got me....hahah
I went to visit Nashville a couple of years ago and fell in love with the state of Tennessee and am finally ready to make the move come August.
I currently live in a suburb that has everything and just really want a more country feel to where I am going to be living. The most important things for me are low crime, a hospital near by and some fun stuff to do that will make my 20 year old happy as clam.
Thanks for any input you can give me.

Shoot not sure if I responded correctly.....I am from an area of Michigan...hahaha
Basically,
I am looking for 1) low crime, 2) a hospital near by 3) fun stuff for my 20 year old daughter to do so she is happy as clam. Want more of a country setting but not too far from shopping, eating and entertainment.
Thanks for your input

Snicker and Roxy,
I left San Diego (beautiful, but just too crowded) for a very small town (too small) in Arizona. It was a 1 hour round trip to go grocery shopping or anything else. I moved here and have everything close by but with the feel of smaller town living. I'm right on Old Hickory Lake and that alone gives plenty of opportunity for things to do 6 months out of the year (all year if you like fishing, I don't) There are a lot of stores and restaraunts being built as we speak (type) but I can see where it will start getting crowded here too.
Crime is very low here. I just don't hear about it in Hendersonville except for small things being stolen from boats during the summer. We solved that by not leaving things on our boats.
There is a hopsital here in Hendersonville and Vanderbuilt (among others) in Nashville. There is also a Sumner County Medical facility being built somewhere around here but not sure where. My husband and I are both 54 and retired so medical was important to us as well, although we're currently in great health and have not needed any services (I'm knocking on wood)
Nashville is about a 20-30 minute drive. Lots to do there with a music venue but I don't go there for it so I'm the wrong person to ask about that. I have a 20 year old son living in San Diego that plans on moving here when he's finished college. He really likes it here as well. I'm not sure what all he does with his friends here when he's visiting but he spends a lot of the time on the water during the summer visits.
Vol State is in Hendersonville should your daughter decide to go back to school.
I've tried to answer your questions as honestly as possible but if I left anything out feel free to ask.

I have a question Lake Lady - are there areas nearby that are not suburbia? I grew up with that but married a man who loves his "space" an dnow I have the love for "space". We are not talking 30 acres or being remote but places where homes are on 2-3 acres up to 5 acre plots. Anything like that? We were reading this forum and sounds like Gallatin may be more on that line for us. We would be thrilled to have shopping within 15-30 minutes so that may be better - just wondered what you thought up there.
One more question - what is your temp right now? (asking how the winters are)
Thanks!

My husband and I were up there in Oct 07 and really liked it. He has to be by water so we liked the idea that Old Hickory lake was nearby. Lots of "stuff" around. We have both lived in suburbs and big city areas and also boonies. The Hend area seems like its in the middle to me. We will go check it out again soon. We are now in NC in a rural area. We didn't take a lot of still shots, mainly video when we were there. If you have more questions - just ask - PM me if you like.

Some of the area north of Hendersonville seems like there would be more acreage. Probably others on this forum would know more but when we drove around there it seemed like there was more space north of Hendersonville. Depends what your looking for. That will of course get further away from Nashville if you're needing to commute. I have lots of info from there. Portland, White House, and Hendersonville Chamber stuff. PM or email if you have specific questions.
