Default Air quality in Manchester/Tullahoma, TN area

We are planning a move, hopefully in the near future if everything comes together, to the Manchester/Tullahoma area. Here in California's central valley the air quality is so bad we've got to leave. I'm a severe asthmatic and sinus sufferer and can't take it anymore. The Dr. said if I stay here another 20 years I will have emphasema(?). I've never smoked. According to our research the air quality there is much better. I don't think pollution is my biggest problem, it's the particulate matter which we have so much of here. I seem to do better in the Chicago burbs, which has a fairly high pollution rate. But we can definately get a lot more bang for our housing buck in TN and I think it would be a good fit for our family. Has anyone made the move from California, or had a similar experience? Are you breathing better? Also, how did you make the move and how expensive was it? I have a husband, 2 kids, 4 cats, 2 dogs and a fish, as well as some of our household stuff to move. Neat trick, huh?
