Default Fred Thompson Withdraws from Race

[sigh]

I know it's political in nature...but also Tennessee in nature as well...

Well, he had a really great impact on the race in my opinion. His presence and contributions really helped expose the conservative weakness in the others; and that'll help us make a more informed decision on who to vote for when the time comes.

Assuming he doesn't get snapped up for a vp run with someone...(romney?)

I know, I'm saddened by this, I really liked him and was planning on voting for him. Now I'm not sure who I will vote for. I was also thinking a romney/thompson ticket.

I'm with you but the Romney/Thompson ticket is still a possibility. I just think Fred started too late to be effective.

Thompson was just too darn lazy. All the other candidates offend large majorities of the GOP voting base, but Thompson was pretty moderate in his views.

(On a personal note - YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Default Freddy boy ...

I already voted for him, and will again when he joins Romney. He's a deep thinker. Just wasn't putting his thoughts into 30 second sound bytes. He's the most consistent too, and the funniest. An all around good guy ...

Moderate in his views? Not hardly, he was the most conservative out of all of them, the only true conservative imo. And he is by no means lazy, he's just a laid back sort of guy, that's just the way he is but not lazy! Sad to see him go. He's a great man!

I meant that he is moderate in his views - more middle ground (with respect to GOP views) than, say, gay and abortion rights approving Giuliani or crack-smoking fundie Huckabee.

Well, I sorry to see him go. I have always admired him -- from Watergate to Law and Order and everything in between. I think that he served us very well in the Senate and I was sorry when he decided not to run again. While he was in the Senate, I did a little lobbying for the Insurance Industry. I just missed meeting him. That was my biggest disappointment on that trip to DC.

Hopefully, he will still have a major role to play in national politics.
