That's encouraging news! I wonder what rank Tennessee is out of the 50 states, in terms of tourism spending for last year?

Shiloh is in Hardin County. McNairy County is next door.

There have already been two Walking Tall movies! Only the original was filmed in TN.

Shiloh is a GREAT park, but I think its remote location does not help draw visitors the way it would if it were closer to a bigger city. It gets about a third of the visitors that Chickamauga/Chattanooga gets each year, but even so, it IS estimated to bring a little over $14M annually to the local economy.

Hard to believe that's not enough to rank it above Maury County. Mule Day must be a bigger deal than I thought.

The last report I saw had Tennessee just outside the top ten states in tourism revenue, behind CA, FL, NV, TX, NY, VA, SC, AZ, GA and HI.

Digging through the numbers, there are a lot of interesting observations. Some rural counties with state parks scored pretty well vs. their size, while others were disappointingly low.

The most interesting one to me is Moore County @ 94. Maybe they just don't have enough hotel revenue, and I know the Jack Daniel's tours are free....but there is a lot of traffic -- even international traffic -- to that county. You would think that the amount of touristy stuff you see in the square in Lynchburg, all the bikers, and all of the Jack Daniel's stuff would propel them at least close to the top half. But no. 94th. That's hard to believe.

Is there a way to find a similar list for NC?

Yet Bedford County, who doesn't have anything but 11 days of the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebrarion, came in at 45

It is reported that, on a good year, the Celebration will bring in 30 million. It's been awhile since they had a good year.

I would think that Lynchburgh could easily top that between Jack Daniels and the international BBQ cook off they host, annually. This year's is October 24th.

All I can figure is that Bell Buckle must carry Bedford County with their annual Moon Pie & RC Cola festival (a huge weekend event), plus some other arts and crafts events they put on

Hotel/motel taxes plus sales taxes from restaurant and retail purchases are the drivers in these rankings.

If a county doesn't have much commercial tax revenue, they won't rank high here.
