I am considering something similar however my plan is to visit different states along the great loop and take detours on rivers when I felt like it. Summer on the great lakes and winter in the keys or bahama's. My plan involves a catamaran though as a houseboat isn't made for open water.

Would I live on a houseboat full time? Yes. I would NOT put it in a lake that did not have access to the river systems though. I would want to be able to do a little bit of traveling.

I wonder how the houseboats faired during that ice storm. I imagine most were in covered docks but with the amount of ICE we got I could see them easily tipping over.

Default Good info, but is it legal?

I appreciated this thread and the site. What I am wondering is whether it is legal in TN to live on a houseboat year around? I have heard "yes", "no" and "it is up to the marina. Thanks in advance if anyone knows or can point me in the right direction!
