Default Moving To Adamsville Tenn

IN THE NEXT FEW MTHS . . not sure what date yet .
we're going there on tues to put in an application for a job.
can anyone suggest how i would find out some info , esp not knowing anyone there ..

phone co. # to call and see about whether or not they have dsl and how much it is /?? whether the locals even HAVE computer ISP access ??/
((please , don't get offended if that sounds condescending . . i do not mean to offend anyone . i just never lived in a small town . (pop. 1983)) and don't know how one finds out what cable, phone, elect, water, heat ??/ is available .

another question i have .. i'll be living in a trailer .. which is the cheapest way to heat it . . i see a lotta tanks outside many of the homes . .propane ??
or would central a/c and heat be better ??
how are the electric bills ???

anyone living in savannah, waynesboro, jackson, might be able to answer some or all of these questions .. . they are all within 40 miles of adamsville .

any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated .asap please!!!! we're leaving here tues am to drive there and will only be able to spend 4 days there . .

. i'm a former new yorker , living in wpb fla for the past 13 yrs . .and now i'm about to become a 'country' girl at the ripe old age of 61 ..

thanks again .
Jeanne

I'm in Hornsby, tn which is about 30 minutes from adamsville. Here's a link to the Chamber of commerce website... http://www.mcnairy.com They have links to your utility providers. I'm sure either AT&T or direct tv will be your only choices for internet. AT&T DSL would be the best depending on your location. I hope I've helped alittle. If you need more info let me know.

well, here i am , back from tenn ... spent 3 days there . .putting up insulation in my brother's new house .. brrrrrr . .. 28 degrees and no heat in the house yet. . omg .. thought i'd die .. i've been in fla too long .. (13 yrs from ny)
well, i still haven't heard back from the chamber of commerce .. which is exactly what i expected .
i didn't have an opportunity to go to the local school to ask some questions , cause for some 'unknown to me' reason .. the mcnairy cty schools closed both days we were there . .. it was cold . .and a bit of ice in the early morning .but by late morning the red mud was running .. and i do mean running . named the driveway at the new house, the 'river kwai' . ..
just read about how the locals will pretty much HIRE locals . .so i doubt he'll have much of a chance at that water treatment job .. but ya never know . according to the guy that interviewed him . my bro's got the highest rating ..of the all the other guys working there .. including the interviewer .
for now , until i can get the proper clothes, i think i'll be hibernating from dec to may . .it was just too cold for me .. i'm not used to it anymore .. and i spent 48 yrs in NY ..

it is cheaper (rent) for me .. but i noticed the food in the stores is identical to fla prices . .so was the gas . .
that certainly wasnt' something i wanted to see .
still have no idea bout' isp and at&t . . phones, electric, how to heat the trailer ...
propane or central air /??/

oh well , hopefully one of you who know the town will take mercy on a poor newly retired woman , alone, and not in the best of health . that doens't really have much choice but to move .. cause i can't afford fla anymore on my pension .
yeah . i know . . i shoulda planned better 40 yrs ago . .but i was busy raising a family alone ..
money has always been tight .
ok . enough of my complaining ..
love the thought of making friends in a new town . . a rural town . . for the first time in my life .. i think i'd make a great ''good ol' gal ' .
thanks for listening .. any and all info would be welcomed . .
Jeanne

Ms. Jeanne,
They do have programs here in Tennessee to help the low income/elderly with utility bills. i dont know who you would contact about it over in McNairy county, but these programs DO exist. Good luck!
