Smile Obion must be a very small town. Small towns are good!

Snowbunny, you probably did the same as I and did a quick search on "Obion" on City-Data forum. There are only 6 posts that even make a reference to Obion (well, now 7 with mine).

It must be a pretty small town. Perhaps you can fill us in on some info that you are able to track down from Tinman's website and anything else you find.

I keep doing a little searching myself. I am curious now.

Very small town, closest larger town is Union City --it is the county seat. Obion is about 15 miles from Dyersburg, which is a medium size. New Interstate highway has been approved and will come through -- or near--Obion.

As of the 2000 census there are only about 475 households in greater Obion (pop. 1,134) with 28% of those households having children under the age of 18. So only about 158 households have children, some of whom are going to school (maybe 250-300 children?).

There is a UT agriculture extension office there that runs the 4-H program and some adult education programs.

I hope you get a response from someone who lives there. Keep us informed.

Obion is a wonderful place to live. Everyone knows everyone and is such a friendly, relaxing place to live. I lived there at one time but moved due to a divorce. My son and his wife purchased our house and have lived there since. I just got back to my apt. in Union City after spending a week with them there and hope to move back when I can find an affordable rental property.
The school is only a few minutes from "downtown" and goes to grade 8. The high school, totally newly remodled, is only a few miles down the highway from there.
You might go through the town, blink and miss most of it but there's no way you could miss the beautiful park in the center of town.
It's a small town that seems time almost forgot and in this day and age...that ain't a bad thing.
