Default Madison ??

What is Madison like? I know that it is part of Davidson County which everyone seems to think is bad for schools, but anything has to be better than CA schools. But what is the area like?

I know a few people who live in the area and they haven't really had much trouble. Overall, that area has kind of a bad reputation as far as crime. I'm not sure how the area is divided school wise, but I believe some are sent to Stratton High. The only thing I really know about it is that it makes the news for bad things (guns at school, drugs). One friend from that area had a daughter who went to Hunter's Lane High. I'm not sure if she was zoned for it or if my friend was able to get her daughter out of the school she was zoned for. Anyway, that school seemed much better.

I would not live in Madison or send my kids to a school in the area. The majority of Madison has bars on the windows & I just get nervous driving through it. It is one of the main areas you constantly see on the news because of crime. JMO though. I live in Davidson Co. & am about to move to N Ky & my MAIN reason is because the schools & healthcare here suck!

I live in Madison and it is a good place to live. Hunter's Lane is one of the zoned schools for this area. The only bad thing that I can say about Madison is there are too many Spanish speaking people and they need to close down Cedar Hill Park in order to keep away the perverts who have sex there.

One of my siblings lives in Madison. Has had the car vandalized twice sitting in front of the condo. I lived in Madison on Dupont Avenue for a short time 30years ago. It was a different time and a different environment back then. You couldn't pay me to live in Madison now.

I might agree with the (public) schools lacking but healthcare in Nashville "sucks"?? Are you kidding me? 7 or 8 hospitals to choose from & a few recognized as some of the best in the southeast!!
I hope you are moving to the FAR Northern part of KY cause if not & you have a serious accident you might just flown back to Vandy Medical Center for treatment! You WILL NOT find better healthcare in N.KY.Guarantee it!
And you can have that state income tax too...

Anybody else with experience living in Madison. My wife and I are looking at some new houses there on Lombardia near Madison Park. Is that an ok area? I have a friend who lives just on the other side of Briley (south of there) and his neighborhood is not so great. We're going to an open house on Sunday. Just wanted to get more opinions from people who have lived there. Is it similar to East Nashville? Is the spanish population similar to Antioch?
