Nashville's development and growth boom is continuing strong, and it is one of the hottest economic regions in the US for jobs right now. The downtown skyline keeps growing fast, and is completely different in many areas now, in 2-3 years' time. There are currently about 10 skyscrapers under construction in the city, with 4-5 times more planned.

Nashville has a legendary iconic music history, and that is a huge cultural feature the city lovingly calls its own.

Memphis on the other hand, is seeing some good developments happen, and some gentrification that is moving into several older run down neighborhoods that are near the downtown core. It's good to see happen. There are a lot of big projects in development now (the riverfront park, the new museum being built downtown, recent renovation completion of the convention center, renovation and rehab of Memphis' tallest building at 100 N Main, etc), and many more proposed.

Of the proposed developments, The Pinch District and the Memphis Walk are the 2 leading dramatic positive "area changing developments" that will hopefully happen. The issue it seems with Memphis is in order to get new developments built, progress and a push forward moves like molasses.

The Walk has seemingly stalled and awaiting securing of financing. Although the Pinch District is in early development stages, whether it progresses is still a big question mark.

Memphis has a ton of legendary, iconic music history and is a city rooted in soul, blues, jazz and rock. It's a shame that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum did not land here in the 80s. Anyway, I do love the people, food, music and friendliness too, in Memphis.

Nashville is my pick of these 2 Tennessee cities. Growth and change has always been something I highly favor in being around, and Nashville has that in spades. I think Memphis is such a great city, with so much potential to come, though, as well. They just have to manage their growth a lot better, and change perceptions of the city.
