LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN - Please help all you wonderful (did I say smart?) locals!
Hey guys! I have posted alot on the northwest GA sites, and actually had made up my mind that we were going to move to Chickamauga.
WELLLLLLL, I happen to have found this house for rent in (on?) Lookout Mountain and I realllllllyyyyyyyy like it! The rent is alittle more than I wanted to spend, but if the house measures up to it's picture, i am a definite goner! I am headed to chattanooga on February 14 and gonna spend a couple of days checking things out! WOOHOO!!!
(I am used to flat flat flat land. I drive a convertible mustang so watch out if you see one coming at ya! I will try not to run over anyone, or anything, or myself, or off a mountain!!)
Soooo, all you wise and wonderful posters, can ya'll pretty pretty please tell me what you know about this area? The house is on the same road as Ruby Falls apparently. I am moving from Albany (Agony) GA and everything here is flat, flat, flat, so any pertinent info is appreciated. We are both 40, kids in college. Dont care about schools, etc...., own our own business, would like to shop, go out, etc.. in Chattanooga often.
How far realistically to Chattanooga?
Bad/good roads?
Etc, Etc, Etc.......
I am quite sure my questions about the area are pretty much in line with what most everyone else wants to know!
So, please help me you most insightful, thoughtful, intelligent (did I say good-lookin?) people!
Thanks guys!
Kat

Sounds like you are on the GA side which means state income tax. You already live in GA so no big deal there. The drive up and down will be a challenge for you at first but you'll get used to it soon enough and will probably find yourself checking out the view. The drive to downtown Chattanooga will be 15 to 20 minutes. Might want to get rid of the Stang and get an all wheel drive vehicle or just add and all wheel drive car to your stable.

River has you covered there. If you don't invest in some sort of AWD or 4WD vehicle at least make sure you take off those stock Eagle STs and get some grippers LOL
It's just a beautiful area and such a nice place to visit that I imagine living there would be great. Good luck

I may have been wrong about the house being in GA. I don't think Ruby Falls is in GA. But I can't remember.

Good call my friend! I was thinking Rock City so I got all buggered up lol It's in TN! Yeah no state taxes... This is looking better and better. So what are GA taxes 6%? That might make up for the difference in rental prices too. We rock lol

Thanks for the input guys!
GET RID OF MY STANG?????????? Look, I'd rather have a kidney removed with a plastic spoon, shave my head, pluck my nostril hairs out one at a time and be forced to listen to Tiny Tim's rendition of "how much is that doggie in the window"!!!!
Seriously though, I am going to look at it tomorrow. I also talked to a guy about a couple of rentals in GA, (one in Wildwood, and one that's on the mountain (?) near trenton, but has a cloudland GA address). He was really a cool guy, apparently teaches people to hanglide. Anyhow, told him I wanted to look at the houses and in the conversation he mentioned a band that was supposed to be playing in Chat called "Here come the Mummies" I think. Said it was Funk, like George clinton, Parliament, etc..... right up my alley! Ya'll ever heard of em?
Anyhow, the friend that was supposed to go with me punked out, so I will be all by my lonesome. If I get lost, I am sending out an S.O.S. using a cigarette lighter and an old James Brown cassette. It will look something like......I FEEL GOOD.....HUH.....SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So ya'll be alookin at the sky!

Just and FYI... Cloudland is way out on Lookout. That drive would get very old very fast. Check the Nooga thread about the Mummies.
