Although I love my home state of Tennessee, I realize that are problems in this state.

Tennessee is a beautiful state, but in some parts, it's like a dumpster. People throwing trash out their cars and yards filled with trash sadly is pretty common throughout the state. I spent a couple of weeks during the summer in northern New England (Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine) and I saw very little trash along the highways. It was rare to see trashy yards.

Education also needs to be addressed. Despite the fact that Tennessee is growing, this state still ranks low on educational standards and education levels. Sure there a top notch schools and places with a very educated population, but why can't it be that way throughout the state?

I grew up in the northeastern part of Tennessee, not far from the Virginia border. I also have family members in southwestern Virginia. Although that part of Virginia isn't wealthy and is similar to Tennessee in many ways, Virginia is cleaner and I feel like my siblings got a better education just 30 minutes up the road from me. Virginia makes education a higher priority even in the poor areas.

I have been getting lots of good posts on TN in general. Especially Cookeville, Greenville and the Tri-City area.

Let's get to any negatives now. Anyone that moved to TN that wished they had not? List the pros and the cons please.
Hi there,
The things about TN that irk me are the drought, but that's no one's fault.
My husband says Crossville has a "hoodlum" nightlife, but that doesn't affect us. We are not near there. (He travels for work.)
Law enforcement is a joke in small towns and it seems people are hesitant to stand up to authority to make change.
