How odd, I always thought Charlotte and Providence were alright. I mean, not the most amazing places in the world, but certainly not as bad as *cough* St. Louis* cough*

I think most people would more or less agree with the top 5 (with the exception of the I heart New Yorkers), but the bottom 5 are all pretty cool places, with the possible exception of Modesto. If you live there, you might be miserable, but otherwise, who goes?

Chicago rocks...I'm a little (lot) partial, but that is probably the greatest big city in the US. It's cleaner than most small cities. Not sure what Forbes used as criteria.

While I'm not naming it, I am surprised there is no representation from a certain state a couple of states south of here.....

I've said it here before and I'll say it again: These lists put out by the media are misleading and essentially worthless. They pick whatever categories they want and assign weights to the categories in such a way as to get the results they want.

There was a big deal on this forum a while back on the most "kid-friendly cities" in the country; IMO, in that case as well as this one, the results were skewed based on the arbitrary weights assigned by the "researchers". So basically, you're getting the cities in the rank order that the "researchers" THEMSELVES would prefer to live (or not live).

In my opinion (and others here have also said this), anyone who would move someplace based what they have read in media articles or in forums like this, without thoroughly checking it out PERSONALLY, is quite the fool.
